MUSIC: I began my violin studies at the age of five through the Suzuki method, and added viola in college. I earned my Bachelor of Music and Master of Liberal Arts degrees at Houston Christian University. I’m registered with the Suzuki Association of the Americas and have been teaching and performing for over twenty-five years. I especially love playing at my church, creating string arrangements, and mentoring young musicians. I work to make the arts accessible to every kind of learner.
ADVOCACY: I have firsthand experience with neurodiversity; I discovered much of my own unique wiring as an adult, when my kids were identified. On the education journey of my children, I’ve navigated public school, private school and homeschooling. Having experienced plenty of tumbles and unexpected discoveries with my family’s twice exceptional journey, I’m passionate about sharing resources, educating, and helping other families learn to self-advocate. I lead the San Francisco Bay Area Gifted Homeschoolers (BAGHS), a community of families who are all homeschooling their gifted children.
WRITING: You’ll find my blog here. My writing tends to focus on advocating for the gifted, twice exceptional, musicians, education and for disability support. I share a lot of my own story. I write for journals, guest blogs and other platforms. I’m also currently writing my first book. Stay tuned!
When I can snag a free weekend, you will likely spot me walking the coast in Monterey, with my three sweet kids and amazing husband.
